CooP At Castlewood Alfreton

HI has anyone worked at the new Coop Distribution centre at Alfreton?

I have been offered an Class 2 Assessment but I have heard the DAF’s and Scania’s are all manual…is this true?

I don’t mind manual boxes provided they are not the spilt shift 4x4 type as I have had a bad experience at DHL with one and swore I’d avoid the bloody things if I could.

The Agency has not got a clue what boxes they have, they didn’t even understand what a split shift was.

So as anyone any ideas please

Now you’ve done it!!!
Wait til all the proper drivers come on and see you questioning whether to take a job or not because of a gearbox
It’d be unlikely to find many split shift boxes on there tbh, best to go the assessment and find out,I’d say most of not all with be a straight 6 jobber.

Ooooops :open_mouth:

Bet Dafs straight 6, Scanias more than likely 4/4

Would the split shift be taken between two daily rest periods or has it got overdrive?

New RDC? Theres only one i know if which is on the Mansfield side of the M1 just down from Laura Ashley and that new Shell petrol station, but that’s been there for years.

Assuming that one, did agency there on amd off. Dont know about DAFs but I never came across a class 2 that wasn’t straight 6 box or auto. The slightly older ones were usually manuals but they slowly being replaced.

I was mostly class 1 and they are a mix of 4x4 (range selector but no splitter) and autos, again its the older ones that are manual. They were all Scania.

Jobs not a bad one but some of the cages are stupidly heavy. You get a workout. Bigger issue was the overhang on some of the units which can take some getting used to. Also can be waiting an hour just to tip empty cages at end if you time it wrong, but other days its straight on bay.

Assessment easy enough, but do keep to your WTD breaks as tyey like that. And on assessment, remember to ask him to check brake lights (gets brownie points).

Been a while since i was there but doubt it changed much.

.

Well it has been there for a while but it is still relatively new as they used to be down Wimsey way in Somercotes.

It only opened in Oct 2013 so it’s 5 years old so still relatively very new.
