I don’t know about jobs in the Cardiff area but I stopped planning things for after work as I always seemed to be delayed. So from that perspective it’s not great on the social life. A working week tends to be a minimum of 48 hours per week rather than the usual 40 other industries are accustomed to.
I use to love driving and took up the job for very similar reasons (although I only work part-time) Turns out I loved driving where I wanted to go and when.
Driving into central London at 8am on a Monday soon lost it’s appeal for me.
Think carefully because most driving jobs will cut into your social life in some shape or form
