LGV Multiple Choice - National Speed Limits

Hi All,

Newbie here, just a quick question about the LGV Multiple Choice Exam (which I’m sitting tomorrow!)

I’ve been following an online tuition system and tests and also using the gov.uk “Mock” tests. My question is, when the question asks about vehicles with a MAM of over 7.5t driving on (for example) a dual carriage way and then shows a “National Speed Limit” sign (white circle / black diagonal) and asks what the maximum speed allowed is, does the test change depending on where I’m taking the test?

I ask because I’m taking the test in Scotland and here the answer would be 50mph (80kph) whilst in England it would be 60mph/96kph.

So, does the test change? or does the UK government consider “National” to mean English?

But, to be a bit more helpful, why not call one of the reputable trainers eg Ritchies or GTG. I’d be surprised if they didn’t know the answer.

I would assume that the real test would be country specific therefore would expect Scotlands limits where as the mock is generic and just a guideline to help you (and those South of your border) with your studies.

Thanks for all the answers (all of which seem to have arrived since I last checked!)

As the test is tomorrow I thought I’d go down Route One and phone DLSA - I know, I’m mad

After listening to innumerable automated phone options I eventually ended up speaking to a lady who specialised in booking tests for the blind (Can that be right?) - Anyway, she said she had no idea, however, had I contacted the “Revision Line”? I said I hadn’t and she asked if I’d like to be put through? Not believing my luck I agreed and was almost instantly talking to a lady who said she could help!

I explained the question. She put me on hold for about 30 seconds and then returned to say that “at one point in late 2015 or early 2016 they had discussed having country specific versions of the question, but after discussion, dropped the idea. So there is only one version of the question, and that ONLY refers to the ENGLISH limits”

I double checked, asked if she was sure and was assured that this was correct!

So, there we seem to have it. National = English

At this point, I’ll slink away and let the bun fight begin

lady at richies got confused with practical and theory speed limits

She also stated that they do not train for the theory test - that is probably why she gave the previous answer

Go by what the DVSA state BUT I would email them to get it in writing to be certain

Hope no one in Scotland fails a test by one point and claims they answered the Scottish limit.
