Expiring CPC

Question regarding Driver CPC. If I did 35 hours CPC training 5 years ago which has now ran out. Can I just do a 7 hour course that will last 1 year and then do another one the following instead of doing the full 35 again? Or does that only work if my CPC is still valid and in date?

You will need the full 35 hrs to renew your DCPC, it’s just you can take 5 yrs to amass that amount of hrs (usually in 7hr modules), so to answer your question…

No.

You cannot drive HGVs commercially without a current DQC and you won’t get that until you’ve done the full 35 hours of training, so as Reef said you need to do all 35 hours periodic training before you can drive commercially.

It’s worth considering increasing your qualifications at the same time. eg HIAB, ADR or class one upgrade if you’re currently class 2. These additional courses often double up as periodic training so it’s 2 birds, one stone.

But, as said, all 35 hours before you can drive professionally.
