D1 question

Can anyone help. I have held my car licence since 1994, so got grandfather rights 7.5 tonner and minibus etc. CE holder since 2000, fully up to date with dcpc. I have been asked if I would like to help at a charity on weekends driving a 16 seat transit. Am I ok to do this no money will change hands? Does my dcpc cover this? Or is dcpc only for hire or reward?

No PCV D1 licence so you are intending to drive the 16 seater on a B licence for charity if I read your post correctly

If the minibus is not for ‘hire or reward’
You might be able to drive a minibus with up to 16 passenger seats using your current car driving licence as long as there’s no payment from or on behalf of the passengers (it’s not for ‘hire or reward’).
Conditions you must meet
You can drive a minibus within the UK as long as the following conditions apply:
you’re 21 or older
you’ve had your driving licence for at least 2 years
you meet the ‘Group 2’ medical standards if you’re over 70 - check with your GP if you’re not sure you meet the standards
you’re driving on a voluntary basis and the minibus is used for social purposes by a non-commercial body
the maximum weight of the minibus is not more than 3.5 tonnes - or 4.25 tonnes including specialist equipment for disabled passengers, for example a wheelchair ramp
you’re not towing a trailer

Also PCV driver cpc not needed as it is not commercial

I have a d1. With 101 restriction

In that case you can drive any 16 seater for a charity as a volunteer providing no payment is made to you or for the use of that minibus in any way by those using it with no PCV dcpc needed as it is not for commercial use and as it is private use it does not come under EU or domestic regs
