Remoulds? + 4 life tyres

yes or no?
remoulding your own tyres is one thing, but do you/would you buy a remoulded casing where you didnt know the history?

also how many of you use your tyres to 4 life? ( new/recut/remould/recut)

Always bought new Myself & never bothered recutting, I did have 4 drive tyres redone before I left the uk they where Michelin Energy tyres & I had them Bandaged. I ran them on the drive axle & had no bother. A lot imho depends on the job your on as to what works for you, recuts off road equals the thread bare in no time.

NO… once bought some encores x4 for the drive and 3 off them blew total waste of dosh but saying encore is a bi~ product of michelin so i am told some of these are on there 5 life as new case=cut=remix=cut= Encore… wouldnt have another encore in the yard tbh.even had a pair of super single encores and these went bad with eggs in the side walls… philberg had a nice one with a drive encore as well !!! Seeing it was unbelivable
and not to keen on recutting if we re cut we put the drivers on the truck were one driver seems to go through tyres as they are going out of fasion, 95% of our trucks are all 100% michelin other makes of tyres are what has come on trucks we buy, when replacing they are fitted with michelins…

no, we only use double coins or infinitys on the trailers, drives are all firestone , midlift steers are all hankooks and front axles are all dunlops. we never re cut tyres but if any of the casings are good for bangdaging then the tyre company will sort that out

All new for me continentals on drive axle double coin for the rest a good mix on boxes though the contis are ok most of the year but prove them selves in snow

my old man always used michelin on drive firestone on twin steer ,then had them remoulded with falcon from melton mowbray to go on the trailer ,they stamped them A and B the second time if they lasted that long we always recutt the remoulds as carrying scrap every day you got through some tyres with 6 axles all on twins.

We do a 4-life wherever possible. Re-cuts go on mid-lift axles on units, sometimes the tag axles on units and only the middle axle on trailers. Having said that we only run Michy remix on the drives.

Don’t think remoulding your own casings has happened to us, but we only buy Michy remoulds so we’re confident of the quality. I know all the casings are checked prior to remoulding, so that should sort out the bad 'uns at the first hurdle

I slung a set of Michelin remixes on the back of a 143, I got them out of G&S tyres and had no idea who had them for their first life/lives, they did me proud :sunglasses:

I have cut tyres, but never on the steer axle, fronts that were getting low were cut and put on mid lift/centre steer. Drive tyres and trailer tyres always got regrooved, they don’t last very long, but an extra month or so is what it is and the rolling resistance of a tyre is at its best just before it’s worn out, so that extra couple of months is well worth the hassle of getting them regrooved
