OWNER DRIVERS

IS IT BEST TO WORK FOR A COMPANY AS AN OWNER DRIVER OR TO DO YOUR OWN WORK DOING RETURN LOADS ,WHICH IS BETTER . ALSO IF ANYONE HAS ANY ADVICE FOR ME STARTING UP THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

Bit difficult to just quote prices without more details. Size of vehicle, type of loads for example. Other things to consider are you getting the loads direct from the customer or through various forwarders/agents etc as that would also have a bearing on the rates.

THANKS COFFEEHOLIC , I’LL BE RUNNING AN ARTIC 44TON PLATED WITH A CURTAINSIDER ANY KIND OF LOAD . RETURN LOADS FOR CUSTOMER AND MOSTLY FORWARDERS/AGENTS

First off you need to know your costs,ie what it costs you per mile to operate.Thats easy to work out, insurance costs, truck purchase cost, maintenance, wages, etc etc. Then you need to divide that all into the miles you will do to do the job, then add your profit margin. If you do not know your operating costs how would you know if you were gonna make anything out of the job.
