Buying a used truck, how do I get it back to the yard?

We’re buying a new truck from another business (not dealer). Can we insure, tax it etc and put it on the o license and bring it home if it isn’t earning? Obviously it wouldn’t have an inspection as it’s away from our operating centre. Trade plates are out of the question as it’s not from a dealer. We’ve never bought a used truck before so all this is new to us. Any detailed help is appreciated, we don’t need to potentially harm our repute with people guessing! Thanks guys.

Assuming it is not loaded, not being and hasn’t been used for your business then getting it to base is just a delivery. Yourb1st I so can then be done- you might want to send it for a pmi as your first insp to cover yourselves. If you’ve already taxed it then trade plates wouldn’t apply anyway
Is this going onto a restricted licence by any chance.

If it’s got mot , tax and insure it and drive home , you have a period of grace to add it to your operators licence anyway

Yes it’ll be sent for an initial inspection/report at the nearest dealer just to give us 100% proof it was all up to scratch when we started driving. Yes it’ll be on a restricted license, we only Transport our own goods.

Thanks guys
