New Mitsubishi Canter 7.5t manual curtainsider

So we had one on the fleet, 3500lt fuel bowser. It was universally unpopular with the drivers right from the off.

The ride was shockingly bad like an old mini on rubber suspension (and when loaded it sat on the axle bumpstops) cab cramped and flew apart - you had to be so careful getting in and out of the thing because you’d whack your head. Nasty gearchange, couldn’t be really arsed “performance” from the engine - which incidentally was the final undoing of the contraption because of it going into limp mode eg 15 mph (and that wasn’t fun on the A34) that the dealer couldn’t fix despite numerous attempts. In the end we all refused to drive it because of its limp mode issues and it was scrapped.

On one of the many visits to the Merc dealer, I jokingly whispered to the woman on reception that they could perhaps take it round the back and set fire to it to which she replied that they’d like to take them all round the back for said treatment.

On the other hand we have an '03 plate LF - it’s done 1.4 million klicks, still drives well and is still on its original engine gearbox and back axle. Decent ride good sized cab and little things like a diff lock.

Cabs getting a bit frilly here and there but our local DAF agent has tidied it up a treat.

I’m always a bit suspicious when dealers are knocking stuff out at hefty price differences - it usually means they can’t shift whatever it is.
