What do you think of yur accountant?
Do you know one that specialises in the haulage industry?
Have you had any haulage related problems with yours?

We were questioned over the following -

  1. Why we had tried to claim for airlines - flights abroad - as a business expense. This was in fact airlines that attach to the trailer…
  2. Jewel cases - Jewellery was not a business expense - these were in fact for storing CD’s in the cab.
  3. paint - painting house to the tune of £600 pound not allowed ( how many tins of paint do you get for £600!!!). This was in fact to paint the wagon!!!
  4. sleeping out money - told we could put hotel bills through to make it easier - and maybe a bit more expensive!!! they didn’t realise that drivers can sleep in their wagon.

Sounds like a change of accountant is well overdue there then :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

The first question I asked mine was if he was familiar with road transport.

As a matter of interest did anybody pm you with any recommendations?

I tried to get a recommendation from the R.H.A but they couldn’t help me.

RHA — don’t think I’ll be renewing the membership, and only been with them for a year! Four requests for advice and nothing useful from their response — you get the answers here on Trucknet!

does that mean there are no decent accounts for road haulage companies out there?
