January and February work

Hi guys,

is it true that there is hardly any work for owner drivers to do in January and February? or is it blowed out of proportion?

What is your opinion (from experiance please)

Surely it depends what work you’re into?!

I’m flat out all of January and into Feb - exhibitions and events.

I think its mainly the container work that goes quiet, massive rush upto xmas then on its arse until easter

I’ve only just started as o/d and I’m doing pallets

Depends on your customer and their sector, we never stop, 52 weeks, every year…

I think you just need to analyse any prospective customer, and watch what they actually do…

Then find out how quickly they pay, and then join up all the dots…

Anyone to do with retail is normally quiet after Xmas.

You need to fill your boots on this type of work if you are solely “retail” before Xmas, although the supermarkets are still pretty busy in January…

Iam normally very quiet in Jan n Feb .

But what work do you do?

Anything that will fit on a flat ,rigid / crane / roll on/ off and trailer also light haulage too to anywhere when ever .

We keep busy as doing steel thats when the farmers want to build new cowsheds etc so theres always something and Scotland is always busier in the winter for some reason

Frigo work never goes quiet!!! :sunglasses:
