Scania R470 any good and question re Road Tax - Euro 3

Further to my previous post re fixed fifth wheels.

I have seen a clean R470 Scania on a 55 plate. I am assuming this will be Euro 3. I have looked at the gov tax websites but cannot make any sense on what the road tax is likely to be. Will it still be £1200 for the year or seeing as the emissions are lagging behind later models will it be penalised?

Also anything to look out for on these - showing 820k but very well looked after. Opticruise box etc.
Thanks

Assuming it has 3 axles and is going to pull a 3 axle trailer at up to 44 tonnes then it will be £1200 per year

I had a 2004 R470 for 8 yrs (2007-2014).The “major” Problems I had was…New Oil cooler, New Turbo,Main ECU,Rebuilt Compound Turbo,Range Change fell apart,New Fan,Then to top it off the engine block cracked from one end to the other on nearside.Of which I believe is common on these engines…Best of Luck ! I Hope this helps…

Mungo, going to the trouble of sharing your expensive experience for free is very honourable and critically helpful to many.

Many thanks and hope things improved after that.

Best wishes to you and all on here for 2017.
