Got a quote for a new tractor unit with one in, think it was about £3.5k more than I shift. Other than price what put me off was volvo openly admitted being an overdrive box it is not going to be any better on fuel, just journey times may be slightly quicker.
I’ve not tried driving one yet. Sounds like a good idea, not sure if it’s financially better though. Imagine how much the clutch is going to cost.
I would agree entirely on what you are saying at the cost of a clutch , would it not be just fantastic if all manufacturers applied their time to producing a vehicle with the absolute minimum of equipment in order to make it less liable to breakdowns and easy and cheep to repair , trucks appear to being more and more complicated , to the stage where I fear no one is able to repair them , let alone the cost .
