Long Departed Southampton Hauliers

Remember when going scotch (if from the south), or going down to the smoke (if from the north), was long distance?
When Middle East work was readily available?.
When driving a 111 or F89 meant you were truly the king of the road?
Recall those companies long gone, where every day was an adventure?

What ever happened to those drivers you spent hours with.. where did they go? and recollect on those characters in the industry sadly no longer with us.
This forum is for us all to indulge in a little nostalgia and remember with rose coloured glasses how much better it was in the olden days

He's got the physique and hairstyle.
What's he reading though? How to fit 900 litres into an 800 litre fuel tank?

Still busy with the odd jobs here and there mate, and don't worry about me getting into the UK, I've got a VIP pass

Where abouts did you went to in Amsterdam? If you run into any problems next time, just give us a shout and I'll send Pete Smith over to sort things out...

I had such a Citroen BX GTI, although mine was black/grey-ish, what a car that was! But as with all things french, it had a mind of it's own... So I didn't had it all that long...

Paul Kingsley was the owner of PJK we worked side by side out of Pompy pulling SCAC trailers for RH&D, he had two motors on that and I had three that's how I knew Paul and that was the early 80's he then got in with MacDonalds and I subbied of him taking buns to Spain etc good job back then and both companies grew as the work expanded, cheers Buzzer.

Lambert Brothers certainly had 4 FL10 Volvos on WimVos contract, and that photo seems to be taken opposite Soton tank wash, but is that one of theirs?
My poor memory thinks their Volvos were "E" reg? But I could well be wrong.

Both the FL10 & the F10 (A737 RBK) were 2 of the Voss contract vehicles operated by LTS Freight Ltd .Both pictures taken at the Tank wash adjacent to the (then) dry dock.
