I used to do a bit of relief work for RJMATTHEWS back in the 90’s, I would presume its all gone now? I was good friends with his brother (Tony) but again, sadly I would presume he has gone now also. 
It was good times though.

Mathews packed up rumour has it he went to jail back in early 2004.!!! Elton line went bust 2011.

Elton seemed to go huge real fast. I guess it can all drop off real quick too.
They all see, to be dropping now. Split died in 97, his daughter in 2011. Not sure how many of his brothers are left now. I did see his sister last year.
Last I knew, that 88 was still parked at the yard, but that was a long time ago now (13 years in fact).
Anyway, Splits only grandchild has his birthday today…

Never heard that rumour? it never happened (although could have done with the rest!) I carried on until I retied in 2011 ■■■■ Matthew

yeah i remember they had black scanies with yellow / orangy stripes i think. i worked for john dee eurofreight at ramsgate back in the days when we all ran 24/7 to make a living.
fret francis did they have the white with red mercs. i also worked for deeline belguim and used to see them around brussels alot

They used to be next door to Barrio in Newington, up on the old brickworks. Not sure if Dickie is still going or not.
used to run out on sally line 3-4 times a week with all them hauliers when going abroad set you above the rest in the uk and the only poles here where driving for their own firms.
we have more than likley had a pint on the sally star/sky at some time together.

Im pretty sure ive got a photo of ■■■■ Mathews Scanias parked in the yard in Newington Nr Sittingbourne. I,ll try and dig it out at the weekend if anyones interested.
Also, yes it was next to Barrios,and a few other small hauliers if i remember rightly. Holness Transport, Alpha Haulage & a couple of other small firms. I think Elton Line have the yard now, bright yellow Volvo FHs.

I remember Barrios very well, in fact i did a trip to Spain for them in Jan 1990. Didnt fancy working for them full time though. I remember being up the yard one day and hearing Split Pin ■■■■■■ & blinding at some poor sod, that was enough to put me off!!. I used to run with their drivers quite a bit though, pulling fruit out of Sheerness & Dover, i still see some of the old Barrio boys from time to time, will have to sort out some old photos, ive got loads of Barrio stuff. Ive got a photo of Barrios old Guy Big J ( Sleeper cab too ) bet you cant remember that? i think they had two of them.
