Another regular through Poole was OTA. Anyone know what OTA stands for and are they finished as cant
remeber seeing one for years. Were they owner drivers on here as i seem to remember there were alot
with Ford Transcontinentals on OTA ■■

Hello Dean, superb photos as always. OTA and Le Calvez were both acquired by Norbert Dentressangle Group in the mid 90’s. If I recall OTA stood for Ouest Transportes Angleterre and specialised in Normandy/ Brittany exports into the western UK, quite a few owner ops on both sides of the channel. RABA were out of Zagreb and I tipped ICI paint there in the late eighties before the civil war. Trailer was likely an intermodal job given the roof line, as they used the train in Germany a wee bit. I also wouldn’t be surprised if that lead axle on the trailer was neither lift nor steer as the cash was running low for the Yugos even pre war. Zurel were owned by a gold merchant from Amsterdam, rumour was that the whole thing was a sideline/ tax write off. The early trucks did indeed have gold leaf in the lettering.
