The first wrecker I had anything to do with had a manual winch and a four cylinder petrol engine, as the small boy my job was to turn a handle, nothing hydraulic apart from my feet in some oversize wellington boots, the only electric was a lead lamp clipped to a lead acid accumulator with crocodile clips.
