Great thread, comment and photo. I passed from France into Italy on several occasions via the Vent in the mid/late seventies, just before all heavy truck traffic in transit was routed via the new opened autostrada/ autoroute. From what i can recall from 40 odd years ago (Jeeze) this is the that border crossing on the national road. Truth be told, it was mostly transited in the early hours of the morning, therefore in the dark. Strange that. The car reg looks like either 38 or 68, neither areas border a French / Italian region, but whose to say they were passing by too? In later years if you went through this border ‘by accident’ they would still let you through, and not stamp your permit either, despite being implored to do so. A true story. Really. Honest injun, dear reader. JAB.
