Ash, as you seem to be the font of all knowledge regarding Astran (
), two points. Firstly, love the calendar pic for April, that truck looks like it has run a few thousand miles and is set up for many more, a classic M/E runner, is that GS Overlands or NB?
Secondly, having never been to the M/E, is the truck in your main picture on the right side of the road??
Either the sign is facing the wrong way or the truck is on the wrong side of the road or its a photo shop
NAUGHTY Ashley!
Robert
It looks a very good Calendar to me, I have just ordered one online from Brasil. Although It would have been nice to have seen some other Iconic Lorries, like Andrew’s latest Merc, or the very tidy Volvo of Roger’s, on there.

Very good point there Bullitt !
First: The 141 belonged to Mark Stewart from Nottingham. Unfortunately it burnt out in Romania. Mark was devastated! He loved it…
Second: Hummmmmmm, The 142 driven by ■■■■ Snow. Astran commissioned a set of publicity photos taken in Saudi and that is one of them. I scanned it from the original negative so NO photoshop!
Maybe the photographer got him to drive on wrong side so he could get the sign in.
I cant think of any other reason…
I tell you what though Bullitt. The photo has been “seen” all over the place and as far as I know NO ONE has EVER pointed that out before! Good man, take a bow
Regards Ash,
ps; SHUT UP Robert
As you say then Ash, maybe it was set up to get the sign in the picture. Given the direction of the sun / shadow, he was 22 miles / kilometres south of Tayma heading south, so I presume he was on the outbound leg. Im sure some our regular ex M/E runners will enlighten us further.

In Ashley’s defence, it has to be acknowledged that the lorry was probably on the wrong side of the road to get round the photographer’s wagon! Robert

■■■■ Snow did loads of photos for the Astran publicity material. This one we are talking about, plus my little avatar picture. He was photographed in Syria, on H4 and down in Doha…all good stuff
The photo trick has been used by many photographers and travel writers in general. ( used it my self a few times ) It enables you to place the subject at a point on the road. If you took the photo of the truck and sign with the truck in the correct road position then the shot is usually to wide to be used in a publication and/or also you get the back end of the trailer.
