A Reo Speed Wagon from 1934 with a trailer from Werkspoor as well as a Mercedes-Benz with body by BUCA

Jumbo from Helmond (founded by the family Van Der Meulen) did made trailers and later on
also some lorries under that same name. Here a nice picture in front of the factory in Helmond
which is 20miles East from Eindhoven.

Seeing this reminded me of all the 'chassis only' trucks that were driven direct from Leyland (and probably other manufacturers too) to bodybuilders in the late sixties/early seventies. The seats were a makeshift affair and the drivers were wrapped up like 'Mr.Toad' with big coats, leather caps and goggles. Can't have been much fun on a wet day!

Just found an early 1980 specification-sheet from Van Eck with quite some revolutionary examples
to handle several kinds of goods in an economic way...however..not easy to drive the Steinwinter?

A rare Büssing with its cab made by Paul & van Weelde for van den Bos, later also known as CargoBoss from
Naaldwijk. Also the body was made by Paul & van Weelde and we speak of 1952

A new Mack coe (so not from army surplus) together with a DAF-trailer. Cab and body were made
by Paul & van Weelde and this 1947 picture is made in front of the factory. Bear in mind that there
were quite some cab- and bodybuilders in Holland, however the majority working very locally.

Quite some rare pictures from Ten Cate, not only known for trailers, also lorries!

DAF had strong connections with Roset from Bergen op Zoom. By 1950 (with presence on the Amsterdam-show)
a small van (A10) and a lorry (A31) were made by Roset, complete bodywork or cab.

IIRC the DAF A31 could be the twin brother of the White 3000 series from also 1950. Coincidence?

American influences on quite some design as US-marques were quite succesful just after WW2
when all transportcompanies had to rebuild with army surplus, also British makes as Foden, AEC

Lots of similarities between the two Austins, the cab on the Bakker lorry being attributed to Brouwers by our resident expert.

After WW2 transport needed creativty as chassis were no longer available and army-surplus
also needed adjustments. Kuiphuis from Oldenzaal (Eastern part of Holland, close to the German
border) bought an ex-army GMC with crane. Not only as a wrecker but also for lifting (old) bodies
of former trucks, hence a sort of container-approach. In the early fifties Kuiphuis also produced
tailer-made cabs, like the one on the DAF-chassis. Nowadays Kuiphuis is known for its impressive
fleet of cranes together with heavy-transport.

A rather new bodybuilder to the early listings over here is Van Rossem from Rijswijk (The Hague-region)
with here a nice xample of a group-cab for removal- and transport-company Kalisvaart from The Hague.

The tractor is a DAF R50-type from 1953 with an DAF-AA8-trailer.
