Help please broken down lorry in cologne

Hello there, we currently have a Brocken down lorry in cologne, the system seems very complicated and you need a account over there else they will not help, other alternative is to transport it back home, can anybody help? Thank you, clare

Okay so we have now been quoted 17000 euros for a new Mann gear box! It’s not worth repairing :frowning: Need to try and find away to get it home from cologne to Birmingham now  :unamused:

If it’s not worth repairing there, will it be worth repairing here? Sell it to a German scrap merchant and fly back?

Nope, they have quoted 17 thousand euros for the gear box :frowning:

Surely you can find a breakers in the UK who could take a gearbox out of a written off truck here and sling it in a van and take it over and fit it for a few grand.Thats what we used to do years ago,its not difficult.

Plenty of people who could re patriate that. Theres all the foreigners, plus english boys. J26 trucking, denby, sg haulage.

Might cost a few k but itll be back in your hands.

Have you considered the cost of the repatriation transport + the cost of the repair/replacement once it’s back in the UK?

Well it’s not as bad but similar to a cry of help from a gaffer on one of the local forums I visit - “Can somebody help me find a quick and cheap fix for a broken crankshaft near Bilbao?”

Sometimes there just is no point in dragging the dead horse back home. Might help if the dead horse in question was identified though.
