Renting a French tractor unit

Apologies if this has been asked before but I’m struggling to find any information on this.

Does anyone know the legality of hiring a French tractor unit to pull a UK registered trailer unit? In France the tractor and trailer each have their own registration numbers, MOT etc but in France the trailer units have their own registration number.

Any info is welcome

When we had some French registered units on the f1 we just used the units no the same as English unit the big problem was finding a French operators licence

You will need to buy some brake couplings to connect up to the trailer as foreign trucks are different to the U.K. .
