Running overheight in belgium

i have been told that i can get away with running in belgium at 4.3m.
anybody know if this is the case?

paul

ps. i tried to post this earlier, so if it appears twice, oops!

we run at 4.15 and have never had any probs, :smiling_imp:
but don’t try it in Holland or you will keep hitting bridges.

most Westermann trucks are over height for Europe but get away with it

thanks jimti, if i go, its only to duffel & ghent, but i can save £800+ a month in deisel!!

You would likely get away with it as many of the Belgian container drivers run around at 4.2+. If you did get stopped and they measured you it could be a fine but anytime I have been stopped there they have never measured the truck.

French Gefco truucks can be seen running around in Belgium at between 4m 20 and 4 m 25 and they don´t seem to have any bent roofs

I used to regularly run from Wolvertem to ZeeBee at 4.3 meters with no problem carrying crane parts on a flat, however following our other trucks it was easy to see that you didnt want to be much higher at all :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Looks like I’ll be off to Belgium then!
Wonder what to spend all that money on?

if you forget to buy your vignette you can spend it on fines, we are comming into the silly season in Belgium when it comes to fines

this time a few years ago I was stuck on the A4 near Arlon snowed in, been there for about 10 hrs from about 4pm, at 2 in the morning the police managed to get through to us all and rather than seeing we were all ok they wanted to see our Vignette’s. I was expecting to be out of Belgium by 6 or 7 pm so didn’t have one as it ran out at midnight, they took about £140 off me the robbing (insert word of your choice here).
Never liked them since then!
