Euroshittle/cross channel ferries

At the height of the cross channel troubles last year, I recall hearing a shuttle press guy on the radio. The lady invited callers onto the radio station to discuss the chaos in Kent… He was asked why the trains statements and Twitter feed were still reporting 3 delays for the train when in reality 5/6/7 hours just to get into the terminal then 3 hrs to get on a train. He batted this point away with absolute urgency and the lady DJ did a Jeremy vine and cut the caller off after a quick good bye.

Euro Tunnel only ever say what the delay in the terminal is and to really that probably all they can report, as they know when a truck arrives at a booking in terminal and then gets on the train. But traffic reporting should give an idea of the delays before the terminal.

The train becomes a comedy show when things go bad , but that pales into insignificance when compared to the boats

The whole of the UK’s transport system is creaking at the seams, road, rail, sea and air, it only takes one minor problem and it goes to pieces. It’s not the fault of the poor buggers on the ground, but years of under investment, inconsistent transport policy, NIMBYism and vested interests.
