Motorway Screens

Not sure if this has been posted before, soz if it has!!

About time, seen them in Europe before now, hopefully will stop all the folk who want to take photos of a accident and keep the roads moving interesting part about the Dft’s CLEAR initiative!

£2.3 million seems a lot though!

Dave

We will be able to see over them!!!
And for the record the traffic will automatically slow going the other way anyway when people see 2 fire engines 5 police cars and 3 ambulances all sitting there on blues.

You won’t stop rubberneckers and people taking photo’s.
But I do hope it does.

Looks like a massive waste of money to me. I feel that road users will still want to have a good look ‘just in case’!

The traffic slows down if a HATO car is sitting on the hard shoulder, the screens will make no difference to it slowing down on the other carriageway, but it will mean those who think it’s a good idea to drive past holding their phone and videoing won’t have anything to video, they’ll still do it though.

I’ve noticed in some countries they have plastic things on the top of barriers, you can see through them but the more you look the less you see if that makes sense

All the screens will do is just make the rubber neckers drive even slower past the accident just in case they can catch a glimpse of the carnage behind the screens

And the sick bar stewards who take pictures/film accidents.

It’ll stop the pictures thank god but people will still slow down to look to see what’s going on, maybe it’ll help a little.

lol look at the picture even with he screen up the opposite carriageway is solid

I wondered what they were last time I was at Seb in Telford. There are a load of em based there.

In my opinion, they’re of a crappy design and will take quite a while to put up - putting blocks down, then the fences … sorry, screens…

By which time the traffic will have ground to a halt anyway, the damage is done.

Why not just have something on the back of a truck, pull a bar out, stick it in the ground, drive around the incident, and then just stretch it and re-inforce it around. 2 mins max.

agreed.

Didn’t Hato have these before?

Accident after dark a few weeks ago on s/b M11, no blue lights just three sets of hazard flashers. N/b took 20 mins to pass scene, even though nothing to see.

People were slowing on the A1 today, just to look at the flooded fields. 7.9 miles of crawling traffic for a bit of water.
Peoples lives are so dull, that we have no chance :unamused:

Good. There’s something wrong with human nature.

not a bad idea
