What is their obsession with reducing congestion.
Maybe if congestion was bad enough, people would leave their cars for alternative transport.
I’d rather they spent money maintaining roads than ‘upgrading to reduce congestion’ which never works anyway.
I drive because I take a lot of gear to work, but I rarely start at 9am, so not a problem to me.
When I was on busses and had start or finish times in rush hour, I passed my motorbike test…
All governments are arses, but this one seems really bad, as did the one before, and the one before that…
Why can’t we get NORMAL people into power, people who’ve lived and worked, not puppets born into money who’ve no idea what life is like outside in the real world.
Like when the mothballed the harriers and their aircraft carriers, but we’ve found loads of new oil near the Falklands and Argentina is gearing up for a fight again, why not just rent them out to the oil companies to protect their oil?? Would’ve kept people in jobs, kept us able to defend places such as the Falkland Isles etc.
This country’s answer to everything is sell it off / privatise it / close it down, we’ve got ■■■■ all left, massive defecits, over-paying for things we used to produce like oil, gas and coal, because it WAS cheaper to import it, pretty obvious that once that became our only option, the price was going to go up, ■■■■■■’ muppets 
The government will reveal plans later today to sell off parts of the strategic road network.
Prime Minster David Cameron will announce a feasibility study during a speech at the Institute of Civil Engineers.
In a move aping the sale of the UK’s water and sewage supply, foreign companies would be invited to send long leases to run motorways and major A-roads.
While tolling would not be introduced on existing roads, the government would allow it for new projects, from lane widening up to large scale projects along the lines of the M6 toll road.
In a significant policy shift, investors would receive a cut of UK road-tax as reward.
In December the government was criticised for cutting road maintenance budgets.
This will be the first time road tax will substantially be spent on roads then!!
New projects including lane widening could result in toll roads. Interesting then that ‘foreign companies’ would be invited to tender for ‘long leases’ so more of our money (road tax) going out of the country! Just imagine ND Infrastucture were awarded a tender they could let their trucks run for free! (Please note how I avoided mentioning any large UK hauliers/infrastructure companies! 
) We could have red roads (or other colours similar to grass) to match their corporate identities!
What percentage of vehicles use the M6 toll road now as opposed to the M6 proper - doesn’t that tell you something about toll roads?

Just another case of privatising the UK, I note that this will not apply to current roads but for new roads and widening existing roads, so if they widen the M6 does it then become a toll road.
Maybe Stobarts will build their own road system, mind you 3am on a sunday morning it seems like they already have!
Seriously this is so frustrating, more Tolls and Taxation = less compaines able to absorb the cost = higher prices at the checkout in your local shop. I bet the Tory boys get issued a “Toll Tag” and travel free.

Cameron and his cronies are just public school twits who have had everything handed to them on a plate,so they don’t have a clue what privatising roads would do to the average person, instantly they would make them toll roads so everyone would have to pay to use them… Don’t we pay enough already in fuel road tax etc…

Non of the changes that these people put into place will affect them, if it did then it would not get into the statute books.
Hospitals - they all pay private anyway.
Disability and carers - they have private nanny’s 24 hours a day.
Roads - everywhere by air and never drive on them.
Food - unless it comes in a hamper from Harrods it doesn’t count.
They won’t be happy until we are all in the workhouse again, same old tory party, different colours from when Thatcher was there but still the same old tories.

Intresting to note that within 12 hours the proposal has gone from NO toll charges to no large scale charges.
by tomorrow it will be some toll charges and by the weekend it will be pay per mile on all trunk roads
Correct me by all means but I seem to remember that ALL the privatised utilities (except maybe phones) cited the need for investment in infrastructure as the primary reason for upping their charges.
Indeed water and the railways are still claiming this.
There is no doubt in my mind that before a square metre of tarmac is laid there will be millions spent on toll cameras etc.
Already they have said that the tax disc charges will remain.

Nothing new there then.Don’t think there’s ever been a privatisation and the transfer of state assets and liabilities to private that resulted in the taxpayer ever seeing the money owed as payment for the assets and the transfer of the liabilities being reflected in the taxation system by way of a reduction in taxes.
Whereas in reality what happened was the double whammy of no change in taxation levels while the liabilities were put onto the new so called ‘private utilities’ ‘customers’ while the owners of the new companies got themselves an effective gift in the form of all the public funded assets together with the profits made by inflating the price of the services.
Therefore a win win situation for the commie zb’s and a lose lose one for the population.

No I meant it in the literal sense they’re commies.My understanding of communism is everyone is equal but some are (a lot) more equal than others.Which probably fits right in with the Thatcher,Blair,and now Cam and Clegg agenda.
As I’ve said the America of the 1960’s was capitalism and the average American worker was a lot better off there then under that system that the average Chinese sweatshop worker (or British worker on the minimum wage) is now and so far who has actually gained from Thatcher’s and Reagan’s global free market economy.No surprise it’s been a few Chinese factory owners and Communist Party officials and a few western bankers who’ve taken the kick backs sent their way from selling out their own economies to their commie mates. 
The difference being that what you describe as “communists” eg China etc, are not and never have been true communists.
I doubt that there is any political set up in the world where communism is practiced, although they may claim that distinction.
not sure whose definition it is as there are so many different definitions around, but communism to my mind is summed up by
“to each according to his need and from each according to his ability”
