Me: 'Allo
SC: Is that Ben
Me: Who’s calling?
SC: My names Steve, your mate Pete at the pub in Luton gave me your number, I’m looking for a driver at very short notice
A - I don’t live in Luton
B - I don’t have a mate called Pete
The call continues…
Me: Who’s Pete, What Pub, what sort of driver, a screwdriver?
SC:(Skips bit about Pete/Pub) I need a driver to pick up my truck in Luton, tip Tesco Doncaster and reload Astra Zeneca tomorrow and back to Luton
Me: Astra Zeneca Where?
SC: Fraserborough
(Before I can start laughing)
SC: I’ll pay you £500 in cash before you do the job, I’m desperate
He then proceeds to tell me how he does trips to Southern Spain in his 61 reg Scania Monday - Friday and needs someone to tip it on a weekend, but he’s gonna come off the road soon and is looking for a self employed full-time driver to drive it and he’s paying £150 a day all in!!
After he finished spouting his ■■■■■■■■, I wished him well and carried on as per planned with my day…

Funny you say that, because I just realised how much like one of his posts it looks like!!
Maybe the Astra z work is a good payer so the Donnie just helps out and he wants to keep the
customer happy.
Not sure if its a wind up but sometimes things turn up out of the blue.
Its happened to me a time or two,late night phone call,got your number of
a mate can you go to such and such for me.
Always got paid and sometimes it turns into a new job.

Well if someone has risked bringing it from Spain why put an unknown on the last leg.
Lots of O/D Euro drivers have someone tip and load for them so they can get some time off.
Of course the Scottish border controls may present a problem,banged up abroad
