The overnight lorry stop in Andover may soon become a thing of the past.
Getting rid of the facility in Anton Mill Road might annoy some lorry drivers,cause inconvenience and force truckers to spend their money in other towns but nobody seemed too concerned when the council conducted a survey.
Not one of the questinaires sent out on the subject to firms or businesses in the area was returned even though the form was accompanied by a pre paid envelope.
Councillors at the overview and scrutiny committee heard that the lorry park was a matter of concern. "There have been problems with the lorries knocking down bollards,problems of hygiene with some drivers not using the toilet facilities and the park does not provide us with any revenue,"said transportation engineer David Wilson. “But this has to be balanced against the benefit of the town.”
However the questionaire resulted in no replies and some residents in the area regarded the park as a nuisance. “We are not going to have a huge problem if we did decide to close the facility.” added Mr. Wilson.
Committee chairman, David Drew said: “I think this is what is known as a no-brainer.”
The borough council’s executive is expected to discuss the matter further later this month.
IMO, local companies would not be interested in this issue as once lorries have delivered to them,they no longer care where that lorry goes to.
And as for the hygiene issue,COME ON BOYS AND GIRLS,IF YOU ABUSE IT,YOU WILL LOSE IT!! 
Looks like even less parking for HGV’s to me.
