Passed my Class 1 today at first attempt and with only three minors! To say I am well chuffed (and somewhat relieved now it’s done) would be something of an understatement
I know it was artic and not W&D because you trained at JLD - How was the Culham test centre ?
congratulations mate
just in time for the crap weather to come along, just take it steady mate, your first winter in the bendy ones, be warned, the trailer can catch up with the unit real quick if you are not careful
No problem with Culham, Rog. Excellent examiner who really put me at my ease and helped settle the nerves
Congrats roymondo, take care out there, dont want to dampen your enthusiasm but now you,ve passed your test its now you start learning how to drive…good luck …
WELL DONE MATE

Hi Roymondo,
CONGRATULATIONS on passing your “C+E” test
That was a very good score too mate, nice one!!
Congratulations Roymondo, we have a special affinty because I too passed my Class 1 on the fourth of November… 1986
Nice to see you know it’s called a “Class 1” and not this “LGV C+E” nonsense.

I may have only just passed my Class 1 (and only sat my Class 2 five years ago), but I passed my first driving test in 1978, which sort of dates me a little
It dates me too to say that I passed my car test the following year, driving a Triumph Dolomite, that my lessons were £2.90 and my test was £3.40
well done driver, if in doubt get out and take a look.
and god help you
Well done. Did you pass in a draw bar or artic?
Going to take mine soon and not sure what to do. Some say draw bar for ease some say artic as i will find it easier to get a job as most stuff is artic and companies dont like people who passed on drawbar.

So Rog would you advise to do artic? or draw
Well done mate!
Best bit of adivce ever is to get out and look… everywhere i go that i don’t know, i park up, suss out where i need to be etc… won’t get stuck that way!

If not on a course that does both - yes, there is one that does C, CE (W&D) then a loaded ARTIC post test, then my advice is - learn to drive in the type of vehicle that you are likely to use on your first CE job.
There is enough for a newbie to learn on their first day without trying to learn how a different TYPE of vehicle behaves.

Lets hope hes got a job to use the new entitlement in, otherwise its going to be a long struggle for him to get his foot in the door. I
d hate to see enthusistic talent wasted before he`s had chance to use his new driving catagory
Roymondo:
‘… I am well chuffed …’
Good for you, matey …don’t lose that feeling - not even when a dockfull of warehouse monkeys are gawping at you from the bay as you endeavour to bring their work in: I hope to chuff that you’re better than I used to was.

Well, it was paid for by my employer. I thought the idea was that I would be able to cover the regular artic drivers for sickness, holidays etc and maybe the odd day shunting if needed, while continuing my regular role driving 12/15/18 tonne rigids on home patient deliveries. Turned up for work this morning to discover that I have been allocated a brand new 59 plated Daf unit as my regular drive, along with an “urban artic” trailer with rear-axle steering for deliveries to hospitals etc.
So it looks like I shall be getting a bit of practice in the coming weeks
CONGRATULATIONS ROYMONDO, on passing your B+E test first time, but think about those mistakes you made. The DSA Examiners do not record minor faults, they are driving faults. The only reason you passed was because those driving faults did not effect another road user. Keep your DL25c copy of test report and learn from those mistakes, next time someone could be there.
