Smoking in trucksWhen will smoking in trucks and cars be band like useing a phone etc.
Has any body been dun for smoking in a truck yet or is it a law that no body d bothers about. I might start taking pictures my self and reporting them. ( Steve non smoker)
Re: Smoking in trucks
There is a very long thread on this subject somewhere but I cannot locate it. The smoking in a works vehicle is enforced only by the councils and not the police - they were quick to say that they will not do it The law has made smokers 'more aware' of the needs of non-smokers which is a good thing IMO (I'm a smoker) but where the driver is usually the only one who uses the vehicle then there have been very few objections to smoking in it. Must remember that it is the breathing in of the smoke that causes any real harm and not the smell of the residue - OK, not nice for those that do not smoke but the same could be said for the stale smell of curry or whatever........
Re: Smoking in trucksI am allowed to smoke in my cab, and what's more I have a letter from Swale Borough Council's Chief Environmental Health Officer confirming that I am allowed to smoke in my cab, so you go ahead and take as many photos of me as you want. Alternatively, you might consider "getting a life".

Re: Smoking in trucks
Get a life I'm a none smoker but can't say I've ever got wound up over someone smoking in their cab or car Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Re: Smoking in trucksAhh the good old none smokers rear their head again Lol
Are these the same people who complained about not being able to enjoy a drink in a pub or club because of the smoke? The same people who cheered when the smoking ban was introduced? The same people who are now complaining because their local pub or club has closed because the influx of non smokers into pubs never materialised and the smokers stopped going to the pubs leaving the landlords or publicans without any punters.? Yeah non smokers have done the UK pub & club industry the world of good Steve I would be delighted if you were driving down the road and took a photo of me smoking in a truck, in fact in my car which is registered to my company name Seems to me your boss needs to give you a little more work to concentrate on rather than letting you worry what everyone else is doing
Re: Smoking in trucksSounds like he's been reading that good ole American book on salesmanship "How to Make Friends and Influence People"
If youv'e got the time and inclination to go round taking photos of driver's smoking in their cabs then it sounds like youv'e got too much spare time and nothing constructive to fill that time with Regards Dave Penn; In the game when it was FUN
Re: Smoking in trucks
Perhaps you can put forward a good legible argument for why this should happen and how exactly it affects you so badly and no doubt makes your life so dangerous too ? Perhaps drivers shouldn't fart in their cabs either, or read nuddy mags, or have photos of their loved ones in the cab, snore when sleeping in their their cabs, anything else that doesn't affect you at all and is certainly none of your business. ? Re: Smoking in trucksThis is confusing me, am I right in thinking that if your the sole user of a vehicle you can smoke?
One of our Joiners got busted by Blackpool council smoking in his van (Company van, but he is the only user) and they sent a fine that had to be paid. Is this just a case of over zelous pen pushers? Or is there a legal requirment companies have to enforce to stop people smoking in company vehicles.

Re: Smoking in trucks
Yes, that is correct. Under certain circumstances anyway. Like mine! I published the correspondence between myself and Swale Borough Council when we received a complaint from them about my smoking in my company-owned tractor unit, and the thread title was "smoking in the cab- the definitive answer" but like ROG, I cannot find it, presumably because of the new forums we have. Presumably it's archived so perhaps someone knows where it is? Q. What key can open any lock?

Re: Smoking in trucksCant say I personally loose sleep at night after seeing a driver smoke in their cab, end of the day its up to them what they do. Like some people on here they may be allowed to smoke in their cab anyway, but hey ho each to the own I guess. We probably all have pet hates that other people may see as acceptable.
He could join forces with the 'Warden of the 62", they would make an excelent team It riles me though when you see a trucker using his hand held phone while driving or even worse on a roundabout Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again
Re: Smoking in trucks
If the company agrees and there is one driver/person only using that vehicle - it's ok
Re: Smoking in truckssee ill smoke in a motor if its a total {zb} heap or it just smells bad, but when you can tell that somebody looks after the truck and is clean i dont tend to do it.
Wheres the keys to the *HIC*..........truck

Re: Smoking in trucks
You'd best be careful to take your piccies only when your vehicle is at a standstill, otherwise you'll be comitting a more serious offence whilst amassing your evidence.

Re: Smoking in trucksI have never really been bothered by people smoking, if they want to do it it is up to them. One of our drivers does smoke or used to anyway but he never smoked in the vehicles, that isnt allowed. Even if there wasnt a law about it i still wouldnt allow smoking in the trucks, but thats down to each company. Going round and taking photos seems a bit extreme!
