maybe he had more family issues - he did have some bad news which he posted on here a little while back

Sounds to me like you are gloating?

If he only did ten loads in two weeks then I would say he was better off out of it!
I don’t think so Mr Tarmac Duck.
Even if what you say was found to be true, do you really think that posting comments like that on here are appropriate or necessary?
Not very nice is it?
Maybe a PM to see how Matt’s getting on would be a more constructive and helpful way to spend your time.
I cannot stand people that enjoy knocking and taking the ■■■■ out of other drivers willing to have a go at running their own motor when and if there are problems.
I’m not suggesting this is the case with TipperDriver01- but if it was the case - I bet you’d feel really pleased with yourself wouldn’t you?
I agree, it’s not nice to gloat, I admire anyone with the balls to work for themsleves in this industry.

Have to agree 100%

To be fair, TD-01 did make rather a rod for his own back. Telling people who know better (unfortunately ) what massive profits he was going to make etc. I don’t think anyone is gloating about it and I was intrigued to know how he was getting on.
F.Fenman you’re right you can’t knock someone for having a go and running their own motor and TD-01 received a huge amount of best-wishes and goodwill from a lot of people on this site when he first kicked off.
But if it is true that he only lasted two weeks then it’s not like he’s given it a good go is it?

I haven’t read such comments and I apologise if I’ve missed something. I would hope that if this was the case, those who knew better tried to warn him of this. Which I’m certain most members of TNUK would have.

Well Tarmac Duck’s comment certainly reads that way to me. It would appear that it read that way to other people too.

I do see your point. No it’s not. But as far as I am aware this is not the case.

what goes around comes around why gloat if youre right (should we call you paul )
I totally agree…
Getting back to the original comment, does anyone know how tipper driver 01 is getting on?
is it just rumours or can someone shed light on the situation?
the comments i made are fact based directly from from a collegue fo his. the real point is when people realise what is invoved they dont to last very long. just look around there arenot many young people in the job. i have been an owner driver for 15 years and an employed driver for 12 years before that. it is to late for me. i spoke to tipper driver face to face and he was full of enthusihasum but the job is probably not what he expected. i certainly am not gloating and i hope he finds his fortune elsewere
I was one of the ones who strongly warned him on the O/D forum what to expect starting out with a brand new 8 wheeler with a 19.5 t payload and payments of £1500/1800 per month
I even posted TRUE gross/net earning figures for an 8 wheeler tipper per month.
I can’t believe he only lasted two weeks though, wasn’t his Dad and brother who were at the game for years advising him
If its true how did he go “■■■■ up” so soon
Yes its true, I have now packed in the tipper, which has since been sold.
Hanson did not supply me with much work. After afew weeks the truck was parked up for sometime and then i only got bits and bats.
I could not make a living or even pay bills towards the end.
When i turned into the quarries they turned me away but yet other independant companys got all the work.
When i phoned up hanson for the next mornings work they said nothing avalible. Things seemed to turn around in a short space of time, as for ten loads it was much more than that.
I plan on gaining a fresh contract soon, so this has not put me off.

Thanks for the support guys
Thanks everyone for your support while i was starting up and thanks for the support now.
Sorry to hear that T-D01.
So that particular avenue didn’t work out but who cares, if you don’t try you’ll never know.
Let us know what you come up with next mate, and all the best,
Alex
Well done tipper driver 01,Glad to hear you havnt been put off.
I was in exactly the same position as you 6 years ago. Im proud to see you are determined to take another contract on.
Stick with it mate,it WILL work with your determination
As you well know, people will knock you once your back on your feet,as they did with me, take no notice of the crap and prove them wrong
You will come back stronger and wiser im sure
Tarmac duck:
or did he have to get out of bed early ?
Im suprised at you to be honest,
That is not called for, why such a comment like that?
infact Tarmac duck this thread is uncalled for, but at least this as shown me who actually supports me on this website and who actually wishes me luck.
Tarmac duck:

Well them comments are wrong, this is Hansons fault not mine!!!
I went to the quarries and kept getting turned away what am i supposed to do if they turn me away?
I did everything i could do, I am not ashamed of this, I can hold my head up high knowing i gave it my best.
Tarmac duck:
i spoke to tipper driver face to face and he was full of enthusihasum
And i still am,
I was supprised at how Hanson have treated me and the only thing i have learned is not to deal with hanson again
Tarmac duck:
i hope he finds his fortune elsewere
Nope, still not giving up with the haulage industry.
Its better to have tryed and failed than to not have tryed at all, and im only in my twentys I still have time to try again which is what i am doing.
Im still selfemployed but as a relief driver for now though.
at least no one can say i have just given up…I had a go and thats the main thing.
When i turned into the quarries they turned me away but yet other independant companys got all the work.
When i phoned up hanson for the next mornings work they said nothing avalible.
The joys of being self employed eh!
I always thought ,a good business is simply filling an unfilled gap in a market. There’s no gap for a self employed tipper driver it seems.
I’m gutted for you!
Its a shame some people on here couldn’t of been more understanding but that seems to be the way of the world.
Do you think the timing was right, I was concerned that you got your truck just as things were winding down for winter. Which I’m sure caused strain when you’ve got all the start up bills coming in.
I applied for a franchise with Hanson’s but after keeping me waiting for two months, the best they could do was tell me there was no requirement in my area and they will keep my details on file big deal!!
Best of luck for the future
