Trying to join the hallowed Scottish infamous truckers hall of fame like the Currie driver who went over the Queensferry bridge and turned over
Or the Box jockey on the A140 roundabout under the A14 this morning who had tipped his truck over

Road no closedski I drive up simples
Hope it’s ok tomorrow. As am parked up in a windy Edinburgh. Need to head down that way tomorrow to Dunbar then towards the northeast .
If it’s closed im.not Gona bother even trying.
Office at least rang me today about 4ish with jobs for tomorrow and said it was closed.
And now reported.
Apparently the gusts were hitting 68mph. Seems to happen in pairs. It was the same stretch the police car got crushed in December.
Closed to high siders yet 2 professional drivers thought bollox to that I’ll just go for it?
Could have easily killed someone.
Both drivers should lose there HGV licenses. End of.

try harder and dont be obvious.
most likely they were crawling along driving too slow with the wind just tipping them over.
if they had been going flat to the mat as you should be then they wouldnt have been caught and there would be no story.

Fast or slow it was shut to high siders. No grey area it’s black and white with no excuse.

No grey area? Let’s start with the definition of a “high sided vehicle”. Should be completely straightforward if the situation is, as you say, “black and white”…

My understanding of high sided vehicle is one that is higher than it is wide (I might be wrong) no doubt there will be signs stating what (the local authority) considers to be a high sided vehicle and presumably like the bridge bashers we hear about frequently on here the “drivers” either didn’t see them or chose to ignore them…
I say this was an example of a selfless “A1 trucking superhero” he dared to go where others dare not!

Your not really going to argue just for the sake of arguing are you that a curtain sided artic isn’t a high sided vehicle. Have a day off

I’d say regardless of any definition a curtain sided semi trailer is always going to be a high sided vehicle.

Is a horse a high-sided vehicle? Or a bike?
Never really thought about horses but I believe it says something in the high way code about overtaking bikes as they may swerve to avoid potholes?!? Though with squally gusts from the side and front it can be quite difficult to keep it going in a straight line, my concern personally would be getting wiped out by another driver who for whatever reason thinks bikes should not be on the road or the ones that think it’s ok to undertake traffic in lane 2 despite the fact I’m in lane 1
Don’t know the particular road in Scotland, but are bikes allowed on it anyway? Or is it like the Dartford crossing?

No it’s the A1, the main route between the North East and Scotland. Gets a bit choppy by the coast.
curtainsider with bog roll,or curtainsider loaded with tiles or bricks.
2 variations of high sided leaving it up to the drivers own thoughts.
it would be easier to say no hgv or any vehicle over 2.2 meters high…( and the obligatory"no fannys on pushbikes".
It’s closed again today… so who’s up for a challenge ?
only two got blown over last time but just think of all the other heroes who made it
