Legally.......Should this have an escort?

Curious as a local company used to always send these out with an ■■■■■■ but in the last 6 months or so they seem to have stopped doing so and have seen it cause chaos on numerous occasions as they turn out of their yard head up the bank then have to do what is a very tight right turn onto a very busy road which the ■■■■■■ vehicle used to shoot ahead and block the road to enable it…now that’s not the case and I’ve seen the driver have to exit the cab to direct and stop traffic into a situation where he can exit the junction and seems to rely heavily on the general public’s assistance.
Are they being illegal?!
The company in question ain’t those in the picture btw, just used a random google images one.

My understanding is that if the vehicle exceeds 25M in length then it needs a POLICE ■■■■■■. I would guess that the abnormal load escorts aren’t required by law. So legally I guess they don’t have to provide an ■■■■■■

Quite a few times in this area (NE) I’ve seen train carriages being transported by road (I’ve always assumed they were Hitachi trains en route to the factory in Co. Durham), and I don’t recall them ever having an ■■■■■■ of any type, though the trucks do seem to work in pairs to help each other across roundabouts etc.

Personally I would send an ■■■■■■ out with it but depends on movement order i would think

Second man is ok with that load. The company pictured and I presume others that move trains are double manned anyway because it’s hard graft building the track to load the trains on the trailer

Many years i worked at leyland bus workington ,any way I was at a loose end and I was asked to go second man with Robbie (a.d. Boyes ) to take a rail carriage down to the quay building . All i had to do was sir in the passenger seat and enjoy the trip out. The route took us through the town. So on that basis i would say ■■■■■■ not needed but second man a requirement .

theres plenty similar on the youtube links

Well I’m sure the driver / company in question would of checked the legalities of moving such stuff, or maybe they voted out and as such are now sticking two fingers up to the EU/BAR mafia that have wrapped weak minds up In this whole legal/illegal realm!.. it looks lawful to me, that ‘L’ word being all important to those not putting ourselves down the karzi!!!

Nope. I recall the joys of going across the A66 before the Temple Sowerby bypass over that lovely S bend bridge there and down the A75 with wind turbine masts and blades over 100ft long without any ■■■■■■.

The only police ■■■■■■ or in fact any ■■■■■■ at all we had from Hull docks to Buncrana in Eire was out of Hull to just past the Humber Bridge and then from the border at Londonderry through Buncrana. Other than that we were entirely on our own.
