Gregory Distribution

Last December The above West Country haulier started a bread distribution contract with 40 rigids for RHM /Allied bakeries in the Southampton area, anyone know how the job is going.

As always with bakery jobs, loads of dough

Orders seem to be rising, and the haulier seems to be proving themselves…

They are going to knead more drivers

With health and safety in mind,be sure to wear your hoviz while driving, the manager down there is Ted Baker, nice bit of crumpet in the administration office.

If the drivers keep loafing about, the contract is going to be toast.

Come on lads, the chap askes a perfectly reasonable question and look what he gets :unamused:
I would have thought a sensible answer was the yeast he deserves
Regards. John.

It’s a crumby way to earn a crust.

I’ll baguette my coat

In all honesty mate, asking a question like that was only going to go one way.

Should have used his loaf.

Ha ha, did you really expect anything else    :unamused: :stuck_out_tongue:

I think I may have just scored a "WHOOSH " ■■? :

Regards John.

You knead to use your loaf and ask them yourself

My mate told me,his mate went for an interview and was told not to waffle,he later heard a driver rolled over his wagon full of doughnuts and creamed his load.
Shortly after that a lad had an accident and was brown bread.

He’s a gluten for punishment

I can only give a few facts. The new depot is on the Nursling estate, but the vehicles are parked at Marchwood. Therefore, drivers have to start duty at Marchwood and take vehicle up to Nursling to be loaded in the early hours. The contract involved the closure of two distribution centres and move them to Southampton. They were Hovis Eastleigh and Allied Bakeries Bournemouth. As you would expect there were some initial operational issues but I believe the operation is stable. They are still seeking more class 2 drivers. There are a few routes using GDL artics also. All the bread lorries are brand new DAF LF 14-tonners in Gregory’s livery, although these are still coming on stream as fast as they can build them.

As an aside, Gregory’s have been hit hard by the unexpected closure of British Ceramic Tile. I’m hearing that this has caused a freeze on driver recruitment in general, with surplus drivers being asked to go and work for different depots within the business.

I’ve seen the new trucks mostly at Bishopstoke COOP Fair oak Road , smart looking for a puddle jumper
Adams Morey must be rubbing their hands with glee
