Got a shock today when collecting some wooden crates for marine work when the guy told me the contents of each crate were worth £330,000 each and I’ve got a few of them on. I don’t even know what they are - just that they go on ships and for the size of the crates I’d be against paying 330k for the contents lol
Aa long as theres no white powder or brown putty like material in there then you’re fine. Wonder if they told the company as presumably it would need insurance.
Regularly loaded boxes out of Royal Mint in Llanwhatsyerface with anything upto £ 6 mill in foreign currency. Always told to go direct to dock - yeah right
Had load of 3 cars worth £30m, first time with a transporter with moving decks, had to load and unload them 4 times that day, each time moving the decks. I don’t know who was more relieved when I finished the job with all cars intact, me or the bloke I was working for who had to up the insurance for the day.
I once went someware collected 10 crates going abroad each crate had a vintage motorbike in them mostly triumphs .
Anyway rang work.told em won’t be back in time need night out. They said we know what you have on but we’re not paying parking at services etc .
Id of thought the of made an exception for once.
Wonder why there stand though if get robbed in a laybe. Does insurance not stipulate need be parked someware safe and secure
jakethesnake:
4 aircraft engines (GR4 tornado) at a supposed half a million a piece!
Thought to they’d be worth more than that, carried engines for the KC135 tanker and they told us they were worth over $5m a piece, only carried one at a time though.
Even the prop for a Hercules was supposed to be $600k at least that what we were told when a forklift driver dropped one when unloading it.

Yes you could be right, that’s why I said supposed as it was a while ago and my memory of the value may have been wrong. Maybe it was a million a piece that I was told.
Lots of stuff .
11 merc F1 engines @ £1.5m each + 11 kers systems and controllers @ £ 150000 each .
14 pallets of hi-tech mobiles @ £4 m per pallet ( escorted by ex gurkha security officers )
Control systems for Sky satellite TV transmission systems £ 30m +
Prototype mobile radar system £ ? Was told not to ask .
Various bits for new aircraft costing many millions .
Lumps of scientific equipment worth £750k each .
Vintage wine for a famous auction house, the totals end up at eye watering numbers if a bottle is £20k each and 6 to a case and you have pallets of the stuff on board .
Pharmaceutical products can be hugely valuable. A few million pills at £25- £70 each soon adds up and only a couple of pallets puts it into hundreds of millions .
