“Back of a ■■■ packet” calculation time?
One acre is about 4,000 sq.m. Four artics at 16m long by 2.5m wide rammed in will be 160 sq.m. 4000/16= 25.
So we can ram 100 trucks into an acre. Assuming you don`t even want to exit the cab! This site is 4 acres so 400 trucks.
Dover Port and the Tunnel handle about 4m trucks a year. Approx 80,000 weekly. 500 per hour…

Half Arsed? Not even that good.

If we get a nice smooth Brexit then there will be no need to worry at all.
All will be well. Dont worry. If it never rains again we can all drive in open top cars. If no one ever drives badly we can do without brakes on our trucks. Dont worry. All will be well.

Solutions fail where the perception of the problem by the designer doesn’t meet the reality of the situation. This is a political solution to a practical problem whereas the practical solution would be political suicide. Hence the can will be kicked down the road in the hope that the problem goes away.

Dont know the roads there but it looks a long way from the M20 and isnt presumably going to be able to cope with large numbers of trucks going on and out.

Cant see how things like this would work even if it was big enough - do you get a pager to tell you when its your turn on the ferry / train or an ■■■■■■ in single file?

Naturally when this becomes an issue for EU trucks backing up in France, they’ll magically find a solution.

The land will be sold to a developer, who will build super big warehousing, for Amazon, and lidl/Aldi, or buy it then sell it to the council for double what he paid for it, then there will be a two year, public enquiry, a local action group the plans will be thrown out, because of the noise and impact to local residents, big house builder will approach council, offer some affordable housing, and with a wave of the planning wand, more new House’s appear, and councilor planning has a new car. The RHA/FTA, will then say a few words in commercial motor, and parking in kent-shire is back to square one.
