Tarmac ring in the changes

Been going into Tarmac picking loads up for a bit so old news

IT mentions tarmacs own fleet ,what fleet ? Does it mean scheme Dedicated hauliers ?

We are on the o/d fleet for blocks and quite frankly they are shocking. Rates are good though so boss sticks with them.

Tarmac own Euromix at Deptford where we run the boats to and the yard is very small, I hope they dont bring Stobbies in there as there is a structure they might think is a bridge …

There is a lot of “Tarmac” kit for sale in this week`s Comical Motor, some of it pretty recent…a coincidence, or a stampede to get out ?

Tarmac block rates aren’t that good I’ve done it as an o/d
Tarmac likes the franchise haulier to be financed up to the eyeballs, that way every time they think up a new rule or move the goalposts the hauliers tend to either bend over or cave in in no time!
Just had a look on Tarmac’s own vehicles for sale site, there’s no shortage of newish walking floor trailers for sale, many in the Yorkshire area!

Tarmac are also installing a new system called EPod, they are Samsung tablets, which are going to make loading/ Weighbridge tickets obsolete, from October. You get you days work via a text message, then the address shows up where your going with said load, but no ticket!!! It’s all done on the Samsung tablet. Walking floor trailers are for sale in Settle probley because the ODs where sold down the river over the Rates, there use to be 2 in Bankfield with the promise of work, soon got shut when the “Rates” changed or " moving the goalposts"

There is one major problem with all this work, where do these POPULAR logistics operators get the jockeys to do this work.
They are all advertising in Indeed but the bigger the player it would seem the poorer the wages, driving new trucks does not put margarine on the table.

probably called Smartpod, we’ve got it already… better than the old epods like the parcel boys use.
