Escort needed?

On m60 he was deffinatly overhanging the lane and wasn’t going slow either.

it dont exactly look like anyone was going fast?
2nd man would do fine but no need for overkill…

Once traffic cleared he was well.gone

Up to 3.5m only needs marking.

Up to 3.9m only requires second man.

Only need ■■■■■■ over 3.9m

Saw the same one or very similar on the M42, was going quite quick too. Was probably just on limit (speed and width).

LOL

Im sure thats not how it is ment to work

Firstly it’s a hi-roof transit, not an ■■■■■■, also it’s a likey builders van not enough woo-woo lights on to be a wide load van, and it’s not blocking off as many lanes as it possibly can.

Really

Never delved into this part of the industry but quick question about speeds.
Does the width have an impact on the maximum speed?
I used to regularly get stuck behind some very big loads both width and length taking up two lanes with an ■■■■■■ but on the limit and acting like one big elephant race, when does your speed need to be legally lower?

Never come across a reduced speed limit myself ,it’s the peak times restrictions that pee me off ,and iirc in Scotland no moving in the dark .

That must make for a very busy week then? :grimacing:

Dark and light is subjective

I was following this guy on Woodhead Road. He made some lorry and bus drivers ■■■■ their pants.

Unless you work for a certain central Scotland based company with big red and white trucks who dont give a ■■■■ and move whenever they bloody well like.

Im not 100% as we only move wide stuff but if I am right its once you go into STGO stuff (over 44 tonnes) that it affects speed limits.

From memory speed limits are usually more to do with weight rather than width, cat 1 up to 46/50 ton no real limits, cat 2 up to 80 ton and cat 3 at 150 ton are restricted to 40 on the motorways etc.
Although once you start getting into the really wide stuff speed restrictions are just common sense.

That looks nice and high so on coming traffic can pass underneath him

I dont take any notice of that anymore, theres not enough coppers on the road to enforce it anyway now
