New job, told i will work under domestic hours

Hi, I am starting a new job on Monday for a building contractor which involves driving a grab truck (mainly), skip wagon and volumetric cement mixer

Previous drivers have told me that they work under domestic hours using a log book.

When looking through the exemptions list from EU hours the closest thing that comes to an exemption is
“Vehicles used in connection with sewerage, flood protection, water, gas and electricity maintenance services, road maintenance”

My question is who is responsible for ensuring that this exemption applies? is it the drivers or the O-licence holder/transport manger

It looks like you have missed the boat for volumetrics

"The existing legislation means that volumetric operators and drivers require no Operator Licence, no application of drivers’ hours or working time rules. According to the Mineral Products Association (MPA), four-axle volumetrics have been loaded in excess of 40 tonnes compared to the legal limit of 32 tonnes for HGVs.

Looks like they´ve got until March to get their ■■■■ together.
