ASDA Didcot - anyone help?

Hello all

Anyone got a contact for ASDA Didcot ADC? I have hunted about everywhere and can only find direct emails for shops etc.

Even any of the agencies who deal with them would be good

Thanks for your help

Ring 01455 884800 and ask to speak to transport and ask away.

Don’t worry it may look like a Lutterworth number but if you understand VOIP it can even link to an office in Bangladesh!!

Thank you.

I was beginning to despair

I wouldn’t swear for sure, so check it out first.

Come off the 34 at the 4130. Through a couple of traffic lights to your first roundabout and turn left, over the railway lines. Other side of the railway lines there’s another roundabout, first exit and follow that road. I’ve never been to the asda myself, but I’ve seen a lot of asda wagons go that way.

Like I said, check before taking that as gospel.

Have spoken to them.

Thanks both for your help

Agency that deals with them is M4 Recruitment, Natalia 07500 861105.

Thanks

All sorted now luckily

Thats a bit harsh especially so near to Oxford with “Southern Weighting”

Standard pay on days is £12.08 with £13.90 for nights

Sat, Sun and BH are each more again

I thought they were on a lot more than that.
For a firm like that being so close to Oxford that is fairly crap.
I did put some feelers out but nah.
Not worth the pay cut.

Asda pay more than that for nights or are you referring to the agency pay rate ?

Christ, I’m on more than that on class 2. I wont be bothering with class 1 training for the foreseeable.

What you have to realise is that when many of these people obtain their class 1 they won’t even consider driving rigids again because it is beneath them to do so. The effect of this is that there is a shortage of class 2 drivers.

You mean London Weighting? Was talking about this the other day. Apparently it´s only for Civil servants, Police, Airline crew…hang on I´ll find a list…
Right, here we are…

London weighting is an allowance paid to certain civil servants, teachers, airline employees, PhD students, police and security officers in and around London, the capital of the United Kingdom. It is designed to help these workers with the cost of living in Greater London, which is higher than that of the rest of the UK.[1] Its purpose is to encourage key workers to stay in Greater London.

The agency.
That’s bad.

A quick question regarding Asda Didcot.
Is it an early morning or an afternoon start depot?

Absolutely right. For the last two nights I’ve been driving class 2. And tonight, sunday and monday I’ll be driving class 1. I follow what pays the best - and which job is the nicest.

However - as a very new class 1 driver. It’s actually really hard jumping through them. You get used to how a class 1 handles and then jump in class 2 and it’s alien. I think it takes a bit more skill to be able to drive both regularly than your average class 1 only driver possesses.

I struggle with turning around in a yard now with class 2. Just got used to spinning it around. And I struggle with the turning circle. Feel like I have to keep turning the wheel forever. and reversing is another drama - but not too bad as class 2 vehicles are just big vans/cars really.

As it’s an ambient depot it’ll be more geared for a later start on average
