Car transporter job without experience

What company somewhere in the Midlands offer job for car transporter job if no experience and give full paid or unpaid training■■?

Acumen based out of Baginton in Coventry, best to drop in for a chat rather than applying online.

ECM are somewhere in Coventry too, not sure if they take anyone untrained on though.

The auctions at Measham. They are always advertising

Any ideas what sort of wage they are paying at Acumen?

Acumen was taking for the enclosed ones without experience, a step closer!

I would try BCA as the training is good and the wages are better than Acumen I believe.

Quinns near Worksop take on untrained. Went for an interview, got offered the job but unfortunately had to turn it down. Got told between 600-750 take home for a new starter and around 8-900 once up to speed, how true this is I don’t know.

Can’t remember exactly.
Mid/High 20’s
2 shift Rota
12 hour days/nights

The add i saw was running out of derby.
Toyota?

Avoid Quinn’s unless you’re desperate for work. Not worked for them myself, but being based in that area I have spoken to many of their ex-employees.

Seems low for car transporters even if you’re inexperienced. That’s me out then.

Bca wages are poor 30k a year.
Acumen must be the pits

Those who expect to run before they can walk are probably not best suited to this type of job.

No one surely expects to be pulling in headline earnings before they even know one end of a transporter from another, two weeks training does not make one a skilled transporter driver, it will take months minimum and can be years before one gets really confident, and that’s if you see the first year out and they leave you alone on one body design.
The drop out rate in the first year has always been high, somehow i can’t see that changing.

I agree with Judehamish, whatever its faults BCA (as its now known but has taken over many previous operators) is as good a place to start as any, the training is top notch.

If you have the ability for it, not everyone has and that’s no bad reflection on those who it doesn’t work out for, and earn yourself a good reputation in the industry, its a small world on the cars, then it’s a good earner but don’t ever think the job is going to be easy, it aint.

Transporters along with plant and other specialised movers are going to be the very last to be automated, and a number of years on transporters on your CV (especially with recognised companies) helps open future doors where the operator is choosy.
It’s also one of the last jobs where there’s cameraderie (exceptions as always), and if you stick at it you will form bonds with other drivers and those bonds don’t wear thin, ie in future job searches

This isn’t the best time to get on cars by the way, as new sales are way down.

BCA drivers can and do earn a hell of a lot more than that once up to speed, there is no salary in most transporters jobs, it’s either hours (rare) or a combination of hours, car money (increases daramatically with bigger cars vans etc), drop money, distance, multi load bonus etc.

Quite where someone picks a £30k figure from thin air i’m buggered if i know :unamused:

You have the right attitude about such things Andrejs, you don’t expect running money whilst walking :sunglasses:

Copart near me is frequently advertising at £31-33k for a 7 car transporter. Is that where the £30k has come from?

Also if they pay that for 7 cars the 10/11 need to be more

Don’t forget the Copart lads don’t have to worry too much about minor damage, such as minor tree scrapes, and they can tie down the quick and easy (and safer) way, underbody.

Thats not to say their job is easy mind, i see them carrying 9 car loads and far as i can recall they operate 11+ bodies out of Daventry, so it’s entirely possible they carry 10/11 cars loads when they have enough runners to get them onto the higher decks, maybe there’s some bonus in the extra cars?

Don’t know what their hours agreement is, but you don’t tend to see that many carrying the types of loads Copart deal with at silly o’clocks or weekends, i’d certainly look at the job if i lived local to one of their sites, beats the hell out of bloody RDCs

That jobs based Doncaster but they are frequently advertising at Wisbech as well if anyones interested. Doesn’t mention hours just that its Monday to Friday. £31k+ for 7 car and if you deliver more will earn more.

Doesn’t ask for experience and even offers to train for Class 1 after qualifying period.

I have been driving 6 months. I think in another 6 I am going to give them a call and see what they say

Sod it mate, strike while the iron’s hot, get in touch now and good luck.
We’ll be out of winter in another 6 weeks, it’s a laugh in the summer and by next winter you’ll be up to speed.
Overall i enjoyed my transporter years.

If I understand correctly most or near all car transporter do tramping.
