+1

Only 20 months so out in 10 for killing 2 and driving illegally. Real punishment and future deterrent that

The story doesn’t really explain what happened, diversion was due to the road being resurfaced so I assume there were warnings and possibly a lower speed limit. Anyone else know more?

Puts on Devils advocate hat…

Beaver, I think your overly harsh on EE drivers on this occasion, I think these were actually double manning a foreign truck, not just dragging down the standards of your homegrown drivers.

And what exactly happened? The trailer stuck out into a live lane? , but the were trying to get onto the road? We’re they on a slip road? Crossing a road?
And whilst they may have been wrong where they were, if the other car drove into an obstruction on the carriage way, was that not equally ‘without care and attention’?

What should be highlighted and condemned is the blatant breaking of the tacho rules, not where the drivers came from.

This could have happened to many drivers.
I am sure I am not the only one to have witnessed a driver leaving part of the trailer over a busy road. Most though are lucky and get away with it.
Was it caused by being over hours and being tired or just being to impatient to find a safe place to turn?

I understand where you are coming from mate, and being honest it was the driving over hours thing that ■■■■■■ me off the most.

It seems on the face of it that these EE drivers, or at least what seems the majority, simply don’t give a flying one about the rules. Leaving a trailer hanging out in a live lane is not something I would ever do personally because common sense alone dictates that it is quite literally an accident waiting to happen.

But whenever an incident like this one takes place, how many of us think ’ flip flop ’ straight away? I know I do, and more often than not I am right. I do not take any pleasure from it all, it’s just a statement of fact, and our weak arsed government are well aware of the woeful standard of driving these lot commit, yet do nothing :open_mouth:

The fact that someone wasn’t paying attention to an obstruction ahead is not lost on me, however LGV drivers SHOULD know better than to create a hazard. Maybe the tiredness because of the blatant disregard for the driving rules played it’s part, or maybe the driver(s) are just simply crap full stop. Who knows?

But these EE drivers need cracking down on, along with a significant number of our own home grown crap. It’s becoming embarrassing telling folk that I am a lorry driver

Two guys passed away - two families lives wrecked.

10 months bird less time spent on remand (I hope she was remanded) - be out soon. :open_mouth:

6 people dead, driver underage in a stolen car, cannot be named but he will be out and about and driving when he is 20. Leeds

I know mate. An absolute joke :frowning:

Soft sentencing from a weak and pathetic government. And that’s one of the main reasons why everybody does whatever they want on our roads. A complete lack of police and weak arsed sentencing even if you do get caught.

It’s like Wacky races out there on our pot hole ridden roads.

I will agree our sentencing system needs looking at. she got 20 months for killing 2 people…6 months for the tacho offences ( if she was double manned, shouldnt have been driving anyway, the other lazy git should have been )…then she gets a driving ban of 2.5 yrs…so by the time her sentence is up…so is the ban…but no prob in BG as she can say she lost the licence…and apply for a new one…i know someone who did this…he was a BGN, and got jail and a driving ban, that was in Romania…just applied for a new licence and went back to his old firm…but only on national…i didnt blame him for that, as he was parked for the night, a drunk hit him up the arse…in a layby and killed himself…Btw, i have never seen a woman driver from bg so this is a first.
The judge did say, she was on a road that was too narrrow for her truck…but she was supposed to be there as all traffic was diverted…shows how out of touch our judges are…what we need are specialist judges who are conversed in transport.

what we need then is someone who possibly an ex owner driver was involved with road haulage and the rule breaking thereof who in more recent years could have become a policeman ideally from central division.
someone fully conversant in all aspects of road traffic laws apertaining to hgv drivers in particular and the crucifying of them that inevitably follows.
someone who in their twilight years may see fit to pursue a future career in the judicial system?
someone like that would surely be an ideal candidate.
poacher, turned gamekeeper, turning prosecutor of all things related to hgv perpetrators of evil■■?
surely an ideal candidate if anyone could think of such a suitable person.
possibly that chance may be withdrawn from future options though if the wee stories im hearing develop.
prob a load of mince but time may tell.

To be a judge you need to be of over average intelligence so that would rule out 99% of truckers …

I fancy a bit of Angus steak all of a sudden. At least if your referring to what I think your referring.

Ponton was always the one for u turns on a1 , they didn’t want to go down to colsterworth to turn round so would do it a ponton so they could go back into grantham along spittle gate level avoiding bridges into grantham or delivering to spittlegate level .
My memory isn’t the best but I’m struggling to think of any magor accidents whilst these lorries ( ive seen it for myself ) were turning .
But like is said this doesn’t really give you where this actually was , I guess if it was as pic shows in the dips northbound before colsterworth you maybe would come over blind crest , bang .
I feel a bit for here , I know my way around there , but foreign lass , we all know how those diversion signs suddenly disappear , I could see how she could end up in the predicament she did , she didn’t set out to kill someone , just sad

And having horsey features and a lugubrious manner will certainly be a plus.
