This type of incident happens fairly regularly but in this case the streetlighting looks adequate.

See a lot of trucks parked with their ■■■ end or cab not fully in the lay-by causing dangerous situations. Maybe that happened here. I always avoid lay-bys unless I know they are not busy or I can see they are not.
There was a trailer dumped in layby couple of weeks ago just as you come out of Bath and head up the hill going towards m4. The front end of it was over the layby lines seen a few people swerving it. Was there for days.
