Daily printouts ?

Current employer (via my agency) are telling me I need to do a printout at the end of each day, keep it and give it to the TM at end of week ?! Wtf

Never heard this before in last year and like 15 different employers. Surely this is why they download cards ?

If the company is paying for the paper and your time then do it even though it is daft

Especially so if you’re on the hour. :open_mouth:

A company I drove for a few years ago insisted that every driver did a printout at the end of every shift, then photocopied the printout and handed in both the printout and the photocopy, this was on top of having the driver card downloaded at the end of every shift

At the end of the day they paid for the paper and it was done in company time so it was no problem as far as I was concerned

Dont see the issue at all. Pressing ok four times in a row and then ejecting my card isnt exactly asking much.

My company despite having a fully digital fleet still wants us to write out tacho envelopes each week with reg numbers, start and finish times. We keep them for 28 days then hand them in.

And we have to download our card before we start and when we finish…

What concerns me is that if the transport manager at your company has such a poor grasp of tachograph legislation, what else does he fail to understand? It does sound like he needs a refresher course about what he is and isn’t obliged to do.

^^^^^ He’ll trot out one of the phrases I really hate; “we’ve always done it that way” :imp: :imp:

HPH at Preston want a print out after each shift :unamused:

Maybe they dont know how to anaylse the cards from the tacho software or even how to turn the computer on. Wouldn’t want to explain that as a reason as the TM if VOSA come knocking mind you.

Whats the problem, press the buttons job done at the most couple of minutes, not as though they are asking for them in writing :unamused: :unamused:
Only other reason could be your Agency and could be stood down for whatever reason before the end of the week, therefore no download or print out no records.

You do not have to download your card every day or do a printout
The choice is yours it’s your property and the rules are as similar to what taco cards are or were
Any company that requested me to do it every day never got it, if they didn’t request it, it is have no problem doing it off my own back every day

Don’t tacho cards belong to the dvsa?

Well, the printout paper is unlikely to be your property unless you’re an owner-driver - in which case any instructions to do a printout will be coming from you anyway! Ownership of the card? Not sure about that - although the instructions on the back of it clearly indicate that it should be returned to DVLA if found.

Your second sentence make no sense at all as written. Care to have another go at it?

Company can download my card every hour if they like - as long as they are paying me for my time to do it!

And what pay are you getting for 5 minutes
It’s your card whoever issue it makes no difference its the same as your passport and driving licence
You are doing their job for them they have the means to go to truck every day to download if they want
One is a joke they pay me, would one clean toilets in drivers room if one got paid, that’s how low ones mind thinks a complete joke of a driver

Since when did it take 5 minutes to download a card? It’s more like 5 seconds and takes place while I’m handing in paperwork and being given the next day’s run so there is zero impact on my time (maybe it takes a long time to download yours because you insist on holding onto it for the full 28 days, requiring you to hang around for several minutes while the computer does its stuff). Oh, and unlike cleaning toilets, making my card available for download is actually a legal requirement of my job - hence I am happy to do it.
