Chemical incidents, what's going on?

M1 was shut for 14 hours, and the M3 for 12 hours due to chemical incidents.
It can take a while to wait for the bomb squad, then analysis of samples, but why take so long ?
Think about it, if this happened at the same time, on every motorway, that’s the country paralyzed .
With all emergency services used up at each incident, there is no cover at other areas .
Were the last two a test run ?

Just leave a rucksack on a (tube)train tomorrow morning, and watch the sjit storm…

Agree I reckon the thinking is lets cause maximum disruption without killing (being a pest is a lesser charge than murder)

Shutting the motorways for so long is a disaster waiting to happen. They effectively have left them sitting ducks at a pre planned position.

The thing is, this is why you have to live in a society where all people basically buy into it. When they don’t, you get guerrilla warfare on precisely these terms.

The ruling class often become so habituated to cooperation, and in developed, stable, democratic societies the masses have so little experience of life in which the rulers have no consent from the ruled, that people tend forget that consent is even there, and how much economic infrastructure is made possible simply because people agree not to attack or destroy it.

Both incidents have obviously had a massive impact on the people caught up in the delays and the knock on effects of the surrounding areas.
There has been virtually zero information released about the M1 episode, on the media news, internet or anything…my guess is that no information will be released about the M3.

I like a good conspiracy theory as much as the next man. But these two incidents have obviously had D notices slapped on them…or whatever they call them now at gchq.

Could these two incidents be practice runs for something bigger ? A dirty bomb perhaps…

Respect to the police and bomb disposal boys dealing with them…I get nervous just looking for a dishwasher tablet in the kitchen drawer.

Not wanting to sound like a conspiracy theorist it almost seems like these 2 incidents were almost due diligence for people looking to cause mass panic and everything up to disruption.

In both cases its clearly shown that it causes travel chaos. It is strange that no further information was released about wither incident.

Causing maximum disruption with minimum effort has always been a useful play.
Or just maybe folks are getting a bit wise to the fact that blowing oneself up is not very nice.

What you end up with is lots of cry wolf events where each one is given less and less attention leading the way for a big one and then the whole scenario starts again.

Hoax calls, fires in buckets, unattended bags, so easy to cause mass mayhem and stretch our emergency services.

You don’t even need to go to this much effort to close a motorway.

Just get somebody to stand on the wrong side of the railing on an over bridge on the M6/M1 in the midlands & one of the countries major arteries will be closed in both directions for an infinite amount of time.

Anyone caught should be locked up for a very long time say 40yrs with bread and water should help

A bit like that nutter the other year Near J22 on the M1 I think it was who bought it to a standstill for 20 odd hours. And not for the 1st time!

I wondered with that what the cut off point is, where they just get a tranquilliser dart gun out and drag the bugger down.

Surely a cut off point exists? I’d suggest it should be way before 24 hours…

surely a bit harsh old man…possibly they could have a bowl of hot steam for lunch with a good kicking every fri nght so they can keep track of the time might be more humane?

I was actually thinking more along the lines of a pre planned stoppage point and then some other type of device set to cause carnage further back in the queue etc.

Maybe I’m not paranoid enough, but they both seem like standard issue Health and Safety ■■■■■■■■ to me. No news is because nobody is interested in some spilled diesel or what tirned out to be cement powder (other innocuous spillages are available).

How much ■■■■■ do we see on the sides of roads day in day out?

All this is, is someone trying to feel special and phoning the police with every bit of crap they see at the side of the road.
It’s always been there, always going to be there, just now we have to close the entire road and call in the bomb squad and chemical specialists to poke it to see what it is.
