Du du dum dum dum Another one hits the bridge

Oh dear i say.

Usual spot that one, that said been 12 months since it last claimed a victim lol

4m max height in the UK and it wouldnt happen, no need for anything to be over that height…

You’re correct some trailers in the uk are so high there useless.

Try telling that…

To DPD and the other parcel carriers who run 16 footers, the car transporter groups, the double deck curtainsiders that do the news magazines to name a few.

Are they supposed to double their costs overnight because some idiot can’t get under a bridge?

I agree, but it’s also not rocket science to not hit bridges.

That bridge is about as unhittable as it gets, bloody big arch clearly visible and signposted as 4m from the roundabout & this knob has ran what looks like a double decker into it at speed :unamused:

There’s no hope!

There is a need for it. We have 15’10 trailers and often stuff when double stacked is right up to a few inches off the roof. 4m max height would mean it wouldn’t be able to be double stacked meaning 2 artics would need to be on the road for 52 pallets rather than 1.

It doesn’t need a max height of 4m. It needs drivers to…

  • not use car sat navs
  • read the road signs if you are using a car or truck sat nav
  • if using a truck sav make sure correct height is put in
  • know the height of the truck/trailer
  • set height indicator to that height
  • check all sat nav or google routes with a proper map showing bridge heights
  • don’t chance it just because someone else told you your 15 foot trailer would go under a 14’9 bridge.

With all the obver followed there is nothing wrong with high trailers.

Even at 4m bridges would still get hit.

Was gonna say the Celuform truck hit it at the wrong point and didn’t take the high vehicles line but from this angle it looks like he/she did.

In fairness, I bet if you had a look in the back of most double deck parcel trailers on the road, you will find most half empty, if that.

some clown ‘driving’ a Wilko’s decker crashed into a rail bridge in Pompey yesterday :open_mouth:

I think he was trying to slide it under but hit the wall instead

Marked as 15’ 9"…

So let’s have a go with a 16 footer.

DPD would grind to a halt if limited to 4m.

Its getting beyond a joke now, and more bigger sentencing is needed…it wont stop it, but will slow it down…ha ha
maybe the answer is to compulsory sign trailers…put bridge heights way before you get to them…with turning points, and maybe a big sign saying `If you go past this sign higher than this ( insert height limit ) its gonna cost you £500 minimum…something on those lines…and also limit trailer heights to 4M…or special routes for double deckers…can anyone draw any other conclusions:
