There can’t be many, if any log backloads so, nearly all of their running is empty back to the yard right?
The same can be asked about anybody running specialist kit, you charge round trip rates.

Same could be said for those who run for one way rates relying on a load back or further on .
Timber is hauled at around £10 / t (or at least it was a couple of years ago in the Midlands area). 26 tonnes or thereabouts on a load. The end user will tend to be close to the forest, so most hauliers will be trying to get at least 3 loads a day done, unless it’s right on the top of a mountain.
There is not a lot of profit in it, and those boys work bloody hard.

Done it when on for Freddie Grant of Ballindalloch, and still do round timber but about 800 ton at a time …
