Oh dear another one that needs digging out of a hole

The driver that is assuming it was driver error rather than mechanical failure. Pun intended.

Very little damage to the house considering a nigh of fully loaded artic crashed into it. It must have been going quite slow when it hit the house surely, it should have demolished the wall at least.

Oh dear another driver spotted running after his truck !

But we all know how hard it is to put on the parking brake before the driver exits the cab … (if it were driver error and not a mechanical failure ■■?)

Digger is a bit far to the back of the trailer.
Scania with tag axle mostimes have the parking brake on the rear axles (drive and tag) and not on the front axle.
Trailer lifts rear axles of the truck, and there you go, no brakes.
The only way to avoid this, is always applying the trailer brakes (parking brake)

Driver sitting in the digger, and cannot do anything.
Driver error■■? Most likely, but added wrong spec for tractor unit.
The same can happen to 18 tonnes with the crane on the rear, and only parking brake on the drive axle.

Looks like a 4CX JCB, not the usual 3CX. Would that make much difference to the weights when going up the ramps*?

And, by looking at the houses, that’s one hell of a hill he’s loading on…

Why’s his steering wheels at full right hand lock too though?

*And do all plant trailers have the little legs that drop down when lowering the ramps, to take the weight off the trailer suspension…■■

Just my observations…

This one was different though BB. He wasn’t carrying any wood :unamused:

I think you’re probably right. Even knowing it doesn’t brake the trailer you might not foresee it as a potential issue unless you’ve had it lift and move loading before. There’s no good reason for them not to be pressurising the yellow line in this country.

And a P45 in his pocket

Sorry wrong OPPS.

Probably no rear legs on trailer or not used as only 8t weight machine so not usually worth the bother. The trailer has pivoted over the axle and lifted the 5th wheel and braked axles on the unit causing the runaway. I was warned about this years ago by an old hand driver showing me the ropes but we’d only brake the trailer when loading stuff heavy enough to lift the trailer - 20t machines.

Probably a freak set of circumstances that caused it to happen here, best cause of of action to either shove the machine in reverse and off the trailer quick or give it some beans and get it on properly to drop the braked axles back on the road. If not aware this can happen then natural instinct would be to get out and run after it.
