or, ‘you’ve missed your slot, come back tomorrow’

No indicators…

Should be banned.

More than a bit close under the bridge aswell, take it stobarts never measured it lol

Wonder how they work out the road can actually take 380 tonnes at once considering there’s drainage etc under there and probably some dodgy roadworks. Not too sure theres much point in those ■■■■■■ vehicles however as the police are presumably required for the entire thing.

Fun job - can you get it with the “2 years experience”?

Its about spreading the weight over a larger number of axles and theres plenty of them there…

Btw, this cant possibly be the UK, it must be a mistake…

im surprised there wasnt any counselling services available from the “we love pigeons brigade” due to the shock and trauma of a big nasty truck scaring the crap out of them…fair play to the driver…like a boss!!!

What’s in the back of the prime mover? Big lump of concrete? As the poster said above, ■■■■■■ van seems a waste of time.

Steel/ cast iron weights for traction…

That same ALE rig brought a 270 ton transformer to us at Ellesmere port where we transported it via the Mersey, Irish Sea, English Channel, Southern North Sea and the river Humber to Goole because the M62 motorway bridge and maybe a few others couldn’t do the weight.

As said above by AndrewG, the weight on any particular point wont be that high, due to the number and spread of axles

The escorts are there to assist the load, driver, steersman, they are not here to direct other road users only warn, the police are required to direct traffic.

You might get a start at the bottom, I started in the heavy haulage game with 15 years experience including some long loads - and still started delivering tackle, making tea, fetching and carrying and helping build trailers. I had been on HH a year and my contribution to this move was to deliver the drag line boards that made the temporary bridge, and help build it

You have to realise this is not a drivers job, its a team and all have to contribute. If anything the driving is the easy part of the job the hard part is the trailer/steersmen and the planning

Blimey there’s a whole list there starting with ‘that’s a ballast tractor’ then ‘that’s a dolly’ before we even get to the ‘trailer’.

Is there any detailed info available anywhere concerning the actual spec of that prime mover ?.

The prime mover I think is the Unipower, built in the old Scammell works, plenty info online about it truckanddriver.co.uk/big-lorry-b … avyweight/, the Pusher unit is a Trojan- designed and built by ALE as they couldnt get any one else to build them a truck to their specifications-then they built 5 more, and refuse to sell them to anyone

At first glance at that Trojan i noticed the Volvo F10/F12 door…then onto the dash…brought back memories  Certainly is a monster of a puller…

Steel slabs, here is my old motor with the ballast box on,

41 tonne as she sits there without a trailer

ALE also had a MAN with either 730 or 750 hp as a pusher.

I think they also make beer…i`ve seen their name on many a bottle… …sorry ! a great video…thanks.

the rear unit is a army unit the ones the uk army are taking delivery of.they come in brand new in army colours stripped and equip to ales requirements.saw 2 in the depot just outside stafford when i was tipping a loading there last year.we do quite a bit of work for them hauling the module units all over uk for what ever jobs they need them on
