Birdlip dunce

A Maritime artic, somehow, Christ knows how, managed to get himself stuck on the steep hairpin bend on dog lane which runs parallel to the bottom of Crickley Hill/Birdlip.

Now to get there, requires the navigation of some pretty tight lanes, and the passing of several signs that clearly state there is no access onto the A417, which is what I assume he was trying to achieve.
Why and how we will never know, but I bet his boss loved that. As I passed a wrecker was winching him backwards, presumably for the mile or so length of the lane he had already driven up.

Perhaps the signs should have been written in Polish [emoji57]

Do Bulgarians read Polish?

We’ve had bigger than that down here driver …

If you can drive it in you can reverse it out. Not always much fun though.

Nope, totally different language.

I would imagine due to the very steep ramp up on the hair pin he lost traction on his drive wheels. Why else would he be winched back?

Even my car slips a wheel on that part if I hit it wrong and I have a 4x4.

Just to give those who know some perspective.

Rather tight old boy

No problem, just give it some welly and handbrake it around!

1st photo err no ta lol

Looking at Google Maps…

Dog Lane just runs round on itself. He was only ever gonna end up pretty much near where he started.

There was a chance to reverse back to the T junction at the first sight of that hairpin.

Utter muppetry.

Ive said it before and I’ll say it again; Farnborough Boy would’ve ■■■■■■ that!

It reminds me of Mill lane/Boat lane close to A1 J36, I’ve seen several trucks stuck there

Even he got up the hairpin, he wouldn’t have got past the houses further along. Usually cars parked on the road up there and is a pain getting though in a car.

I’m guessing he thought he could enter the A417 at the gate just before the bend. That’s been blocked off for many years, only opened in the last few years to allow a low loader with an aircraft on the back to get to the old Bentham factory, as it wouldn’t fit under the bridge.
However rather than stopping when he saw the blocked gate, he decided to crack on. :unamused:
